HERSTORY

Meet the First Lady behind The Movement
"The few may already know, but I feel I should make it clear, for everyone, on what it is that I believe in and what it is that I stand for to this day.

2008 was a rather challenging year and I’m sure I speak on behalf of most people when I say that. We have experienced much change both positive and negative in almost every aspect of our lives. Personally, it was one obstacle after the other. I came out of a three-year relationship, school and work became even more time consuming as I attempted to stay focused and earn as much as I could simultaneously, and needless to say- more independence meant more bills to pay. Altogether, a test of my mental and emotional strength. At times, even my physical and spiritual strength. It honestly took a while for me to fully recover from it all and start a new.

Meanwhile, many close friends of mine- particularly females- had been going through the toughest of times as well. It made me realize that sometimes, we may not think or believe it, but we deserve more for what we have to offer. [I believe that we all were made for and with a purpose; I stand for ensuring that that purpose is made known.] This inspired and motivated me more to stand up for myself and my fellow females while remaining positive and keeping my mind on the right track. What better way than to start a new project to help me to help me do that…

After changing it up a few times, the project was officially named First Lady. Soon enough the phrase “the movement” stuck with it and is often called First Lady The Movement or FLTM. To be more descriptive, a First Lady is simply a female who does what she loves, loves what she does, and does it well. She is that all-around female, sharing her gifts and talents, and utilizing them to better not only herself but everything around her. FLTM is and will become a vast network of ladies, a collaboration of creative and intellectual females, soon to rule the world.

P.S. Gentlemen, you all are welcome to join us. :)" -DR
